Whois is a widely-used response protocol that normally queries the database where an Internet resource is used, such as IP or Domain, among others. Whois provides information about a domain or registrant, including country and contact information. As Whois is normally run from the command line, TamoSoft developed SmartWhois, an application that allows you to run the protocol in a Windows environment, while adding several useful features.

The application can handle multiple Whois queries and it processes them in seconds. The results can be saved and exported to different formats, including Excel. One of the nice things is that you can integrate SmartWhois with Internet Explorer, though there is no support for newer browsers, such as Chrome.

Although this application has plenty of power when it comes to batch processing and saving results, the price seems excessive, considering there are free applications with similar Whois capabilities. However, as an application, SmartWhois is definitely one of the best options around. Besides, there is an evaluation version available for you to try it out before you spend your cash on it.
